Kimia Heidary is an Articling Student at Gorham Vandebeek LLP. She holds both an American and Canadian JD degree from the University of Windsor and the University of Detroit Mercy.
Kimia is committed to the field of criminal defence and has a strong passion for oral advocacy. In pursuit of this passion, Kimia distinguished herself as a finalist in the Patrick A. Keenan Moot Court Competition while serving on the Moot Court Board of Advocates. In her third year of studies, she served as a senior caseworker at the Community Legal Aid clinic, representing clients charged with criminal and provincial offenses. Her special interest lies in the intersection of criminal law with social welfare, and mental health.
Additionally, Kimia gained experience with appellate cases through her externship with the Wayne County Conviction Integrity Unit, where she reviewed trial, appellate, and investigative files to reveal potential wrongful convictions.
Before embarking on her legal career, Kimia completed a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Biology and Psychology at the University of Toronto. She is a dedicated advocate who looks forward to making a meaningful impact for the firm’s clients.
